Curriculum
At Tiddlywinks Nursery School we recognise that the early stages of each individual child's life are essential towards their educational journey and development. Our practitioners focus on promoting key development areas and provide the best possible start in our children's educational learning.
Curriculum for Excellence
At Tiddlywinks Nursery School we promote play-based education and adhere to national guidance from the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE). The CfE is split into 4 Capacities which are:
-
Successful Learners
-
Confident Individuals
-
Effective Contributors
-
Responsible Citizens
Safe
Healthy

Additionally, the CfE highlights 3 Core Areas for Learning:
-
Literacy
-
Numeracy
-
Health & Wellbeing
Learning Experiences planned by our staff integrate the CfE Capacities and Core Areas for Learning, enabling all children to maximise their potential. We are supported in this through partnership working with our local council.
Additionally, we take guidance from the following resources:
-
Pre Birth to Three (Positive Outcomes for Scotland's Children and Families)
Child-Led Learning
Responsive planning is key to the learning opportunities and experiences we offer children at Tiddlywinks Nursery School. Our nursery staff facilitate learning activities based on topics chosen by the children in our care. Children are encouraged to share their interests through mind maps and group discussions.
We believe there's nothing we teach indoors that can't be taught outdoors, and make use of our fantastic outdoor space to support learning through play.
